European Single Electronic Format (ESEF)
What is ESEF?
ESEF stands for the European Single Electronic Format. It is a common reporting standard for all EU countries and the UK. In the EU, it is regulated by The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), and in the UK, by the FCA.
What is the deadline for filing?
The deadline for filing the ESEF is four months after the year end. This applies to accounting periods beginning January 2021.
Will HMRC and Irish revenue iXBRL converted accounts be sufficient?
Unfortunately no. This is a completely different regulator with different taxonomies and rules.
Does Brexit affect this?
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is implementing this requirement for UK listed companies. It has updated its DTR handbook to reflect this.
Can you create ESEF for other EU countries?
Yes. We can convert accounts for all EU jurisdictions as long as the accounts are in the English language.
